#2 Album of 2009: The Bird and The Bee

Their album Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future is solely responsible for me working to make my record-playing setup better at home. Totally worth it!

"My Love" by The Bird and The Bee

The Bird and The Bee

Apologies for the less-than-perfect audio quality on this one... my USB record player is not currently hooked up, so I had to hijack this one from YouTube.

If you're into 60s flavor, or want to hear a less frantic, more English-speaking version of Pizzicato Five, then you have to pick up Ray Guns.

The other day, as I was playing this record, e said, "See, it's not that hard."

"What's not that hard?" I asked.

"Making really fun, catchy music." And I agree... it's not that hard... listening to this album you can hear the construction of each song. It's all there, it's all really well done but not overly complex. And unlike most pop music, it's completely unshitty.

Yet there is an abundance of shitty "fun" music out there. It shouldn't be that hard to be The Bird and The Bee. They aren't doing anything shockingly innovative. They're just doing everything right.

What album is #1 on my list this year? I bet you don't know... at least not right now. You will by 4pm today, though ;)

Absolutely. This is a completely unshitty album, whereas most pop music is totally shitty ;)

"And unlike most pop music, it's completely unshitty."

Can I quote you on that?
