A Few New Things

This week marks the launch (at long last) of the new issue of HEY Quarterly, as well as a new and long overdue episode of Downcast.

The New Shop

It's official. This weekend we launched the new Orange Beautiful Studio + Shop, and it was a great time. I thought it might feel weird to get back into the world of retail shop life, but it's been an overall pleasant experience.

Request Local

Let's face it... "shopping season" is upon us. I have heard holiday music, I have seen a Santa on the TODAY show. That means, whether you like it or not, it's time to pick up gifts.

In the past, I have talked about my love for shopping small, supporting independent businesses and being as local as possible. I'm taking it one step further this year: I'm requesting local.

Futureclothes

One of the things I'm trying to focus on while I develop more details for R65 (still behind the scenes, I know, I'm so slow), is what apparel in the 3200s might be like. To do this, I'm looking towards contemporary indie designers. Click through to learn about some future-y clothing you can have today.

Noble Patterns

It took a trip to Barcelona to find a few people who love reinventing their website style as much as I do. e and I were lucky to be invited to then-Itte Studio during our trip a while back, where we met Alex and Ana.

They've just recently launched Gallant Tales through their Alan the Gallant brand. Check out some of my favorites!

On Spending And Giving

We've been told that the friday after Thanksgiving is a major shopping day. Most businesses have major sales on "Black Friday", be they great or small.

By all means, go shopping on Friday, if you're up for it... but don't do it at Target, or Walmart, or Best Buy. Do it at your local shops.

Shop Small At Local Shows and Fairs

This Saturday, here in Chicago, we've got the DIY Trunk Show, featuring products from tons of local artists and designers. You'd be a fool to miss it!

Of course... you may not live in Chicago, for some crazy reason. That's fine... I bet there's something going on around you.

All Things Paper

Emily is one of most talented people I know and has a work ethic that is unparalleled. This year OrangeBeautiful has put out a ton of new and amazing products that will make short order of your holiday shopping list.

The Industrial Singer

I mentioned that we have a lot of Dolan stuff around the house, and I think I can say the same for Zola Jones! e met Jason, owner and designer, a few years back and we've been enamored with his product ever since.

And for good reason! His work is exceptional. Read on and take a look...
